Joanne Brothwell is a Registered Social Worker with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (#1018) and has an Authorized Practice Endorsement. She completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Calgary and has 29 years of experience providing individual, couple and family counselling to adults and youth. She is a certified leadership coach for individuals seeking to enhance their personal and professional performance. She has worked in outpatient youth mental health for the past 18 years and has been in private practice for 10 years.
Joanne is a clinical supervisor of a variety of mental health professionals at both the doctoral and master’s level. She is a university instructor of Family Therapy in the Post-Graduate Medical Education Program at the University of Saskatchewan. Joanne provides mental health assessments for youth and adults within her scope of practice to help determine a mental health diagnosis for the purpose of understanding and treating mental, mood and behavioural disorders and conditions.
Joanne works to create a collaborative treatment plan based on client goals. She draws from her training in evidence-based models, including (but not limited to): Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive Behavior Therapy (MiCBT), Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), Family Based Treatment for Adolescent Eating Disorders (FBT), CBT-E for Eating Disorders & Functional Family Therapy (FFT).
