Sherry Van Hesteren (Ed. D.) is an Educational Consultant and Certified Neurodiversity Coach who provides support to neurodivergent children, youth, and their families experiencing challenges related to schooling and education. For over twenty-five years, Sherry was a classroom teacher, instructional leader, and consultant in three Saskatchewan school divisions. She has extensive experience teaching, supporting, and advocating for neurodiverse learners. As a neurodivergent person, parent, and professional herself, she has a deep understanding of how educational systems impact children, adolescents, and families.
She interacts with students and parents in a spirit of curiosity, empathy, and hope to:
- increase understanding of oneself and/or one’s child as a neurodivergent learner
- strengthen student & family capacity to practice & advocate for neuro-affirming learning
- reduce harm & amplify benefits in school systems & alternate pathways
- support educational access
- foster psychologically safe collaboration
